Age UK

Age UK

Today, there are 1.4 million older people across the UK who often feel lonely. But together with your help, we can be there for the millions of older people who turn to us when they need information, advice and support.

From providing a lonely older person with a weekly friendship telephone call, to helping people access the vital advice and support they need - our services are a lifeline for the older people who need us most.

After taking care of loved ones, a gift in your will to Age UK could help support vulnerable older people, so no one has to face later life alone. We hope you’ll agree that that’s a wonderful gift to leave.

Loneliness is awful, but Age UK makes it more bearable.

Originally from Guyana, Amrita lives alone in South London. After her husband died 10 years ago, she found it really difficult facing loneliness.

Craving some companionship, Amrita came across the Age UK Telephone Friendship Service, was matched with a befriender and now has weekly phone calls where they talk about anything and everything.

The telephone calls have helped Amrita rediscover the joy of conversation. She says they have been a real lifeline for her:

“Loneliness is awful. It can make you feel trapped. But if you can do something about it, like use the Age UK Telephone Friendship service, it can become more bearable.”
